Tama Czarnecki works with Doug Davis

Doug lost his speech as the result of a stroke six years ago. Until he got his Lingraphica , Doug had not even gone to his favorite lunch spot, because he couldn't order a hamburger the way he likes it. Now he uses his Lingraphica to order what he wants, make appointments with his doctor, and communicate with a bookkeeper.

And, thanks to the Lingraphica, he has also joined an Orchid club. His SLP, Tama Czarnecki helped him at first, but then he was on his own. Says Czarnecki , "One practice session he indicated to me that he wanted to go to the orchid club. So I went with him to take notes on what sort of vocabulary he might need for the Lingraphica. The next time he thought I was going to go again, but I wasn't able to. Nonetheless he was able to communicate three different things that he wanted to find out while he was there. One had to do with fertilizer. The other one was that he wanted to let them know he wanted to go on a field trip with them. And the third was that he had to take in an orchid that was in bloom and tell something about it. So the following practice session he was just so excited because he couldn't wait to say that he got all three of those things communicated. It really has changed his life completely."
