Trial Process Overview

The best way to know if the Lingraphica is right for your patient is to try it. That is why we offer a loaner Lingraphica to any patient with qualifying insurance coverage. Plus, we train you in one short phone session — you don't need to be an AAC expert.

How a Patient Qualifies for the Trial Before the trial begins, Lingraphica conducts a benefits check for any patient you identify as a candidate for our AAC device. You simply call in the patient's insurance information to us, and our Reimbursement Specialist takes care of the rest. We usually get back to you within one to two business days with the results of the benefits check. If the patient qualifies, we ship you a loaner Lingraphica for the trial, free of charge. That's it. There is no up-front paperwork.

How Long Your Training for the Trial Takes The training takes less than an hour over the phone. There is also a built-in training video right on the device.

How Long the Trial Takes The trial usually takes four weeks: two to get you and the patient trained, and two for patients to work with the device on their own and in therapy sessions.


How You Know If the Lingraphica Is Right for Your Patient Lingraphica provides a Clinical Consultant to work with you throughout the trial. In addition to training you, the consultant helps you evaluate if the Lingraphica is appropriate for your patient. A patient-evaluation tool is built right into the Lingraphica to make the process easy.


How Patients Get Their Own Lingraphica Once you have determined that the Lingraphica is appropriate for your patient, fill out the Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) form that we provide; your Clinical Consultant can help you fill it out. Our Reimbursement Specialist will obtain a doctor's prescription from your patient's physician and authorization, if necessary, from the insurance provider. You ship the loaner Lingraphica back to us using a pre-addressed and pre-paid return-shipping label. Once we have all the completed paperwork, we will ship a new customized Lingraphica to your patient.


How the Patient's Lingraphica Is Customized Once the device has been recommended and you order the Lingraphica for your patient, we manufacture and customize the device. Using the Personal Interests Form you have completed about your patient's family members, interests, and communication needs, we will configure a device uniquely for your patient. Right out of the box the device will contain phrases like "Hi, my name is John" or "I like to watch the Phillies."
