Clinical Experience

What a great way to raise awareness of stroke and the symptoms one may experience with Aphasia. I often run into patients and family members who are initially frightened by all the changes and loss of independence, they or their loved one has suffered. Aphasia does not just affect the patient, it affects the family and caregivers as well. As clinicians we must offer extensive education and training to support what we are doing in therapy. Carryover into the home and community is one of the most difficult tasks to accomplish in therapy, and yet such a vital step in the transition back to independence.
