Hello, My name is Charlie and my wife has PPA with dementia. She is 52 yrs old and has been diagnosed for around 3 yrs. She has very limited speech and the dementia is showing its face more and more. Im overwhelmed and scared to death of what the future will bring. i get some help from friends and family but mostly its me being sole caretaker. I still work so its very difficult toggling both. I joined to hopefully get some support and advise on how to handle this. I am in the process of trying to make a communication book for her and if anyone has any advise on how to create a book please advise.

    thank you

Hi Charlie, it’s nice to meet you. Thank you for sharing and I hope this community will provide you with some resources to help you and your wife. The aphasia library has dedicated articles on PPA as well as caregiving tips and resources. Along with the communication book, I would also suggest downloading some Communication Boards which are great, low-tech communication options. Lingraphica also offers free webinars focused on understanding the brain, strokes, and aphasia. I would also recommend checking out Virtual Connections. Virtual Connections hosts daily Zoom calls for people with aphasia and care partners. All sessions are completely free to join, and a great place to meet others on the aphasia journey.
