Well hello! I am Bruce Farrell and I have aphasia.

I used to work as a proposal director at Plante Moran. I was on the board of APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals). I was a musician playing guitar and writing songs.

All of that change about 2 1/2 years ago, when I had a serious bicycle accident. And that is how I got aphasia. It’s really hard. But I’m learning, and every day is a new day.

Hi Bruce! Nice to meet you.

You said your stroke was 2 1/2 years ago. How long were you in the hospital? Did you go to rehab? Have been you able to go back to work? That’s my biggest goal!

    Hey there, Deborah!

How long was I in the hospital?
    Almost two months.

    Did I go into rehab?
No., I went home. Once I got settled. I had speech therapy and occupational therapy five days a week. I got out of occupational therapy after about seven months. I’m still at speech therapy two times a week.

Did I go back to work?
Unfortunately, no. I was a proposal director, but haven’t been able to work. But who knows? Maybe someday.

    What is my biggest goal?
My biggest goal would be to go back to work. I would like to just be normal again. Other than that my big role is to play in bands and hopefully be friends with everybody else.

    I hope that helps.
