Hi everyone, I just joined this community. I got a tbi in 1998 and have permanent language difficulties from that. my brain has healed as much as it is ever gonna, so i’m working on living with what i have. back in 1998, this was not on anyone’s radar so i didn’t have a bunch of fancy tests. and, was not aware that i could not understand even though you would think it would be obvious…. i just couldn’t figure it out. it does not exactly match descriptions online either, but i am pretty sure it would be classified as an aphasia and, beside, i know the damage happened in that spot in my temporal lobe, so, going with that.

i mean, why else would a law school merit scholar be sounding out 3 letter words?

anyway, looking forward to joining the dsicusssions.

Welcome to The Aphasia Community Patti! Thank you for sharing your story. There are various forums throughout the community where you can start new conversations or join existing ones. Virtual Connections is another great resource, where you can join weekly sessions and connect with other individuals with aphasia.
