Aphasia Community Forums Introduce Yourself Not sure what to do

I discovered aphasia, specifically paraphasia, and this website, when I finally decided to google “what is it called when you accidentally replace sounds or letters in words often”. I thought my tendency to mangle words in recent years was simply an unusual kind of stutter, and now I’m scared something happened to my head that I didn’t notice. It happens most often when I’m around people I’m comfortable with and therefore am not thinking as carefully about my words as usual. “The doopest part of the mine” is an oft-quoted line among my close friends – when I get excited over games is when the worst instances happen, but it’s all pretty mild. But the google rabbithole makes me worry that a mild symptom could mean something very NOT minor is going on. But healthcare in America being what it is, I don’t want to rush to the doctor over something that doesn’t hinder my life if it’s not major. Any advice? Should I go to a doctor about it?

To add more context, I was just talking with my mom about paraphasia and apparently it runs in the family, and suspected, undiagnosed autism also runs in the family. So I have hope it isn’t caused by anything severe, and is just plain old genetics. Any advice is still appreciated though.
